An Aberdeen woman who has spent her life helping thousands of people with their financial worries has been recognised by the Queen.
Dianne Drummond, who is originally from Inverness but moved to the north-east several years ago, has been volunteering with the Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) for the past 41 years.
Despite retiring, she still spends one day a week working at the Union Street office, helping those in need.
She has now been awarded a British Empire Medal for her tireless voluntary work.
“Getting up for work on a Monday morning is the best start to the week I could have,” she said.
“The important thing is that people come to us as soon as they feel they have a problem.”
The retired optician also helps to raise funds for the CAB to support the vital work it does.
The grandmother has even made numerous trips to Africa to help people who cannot afford optical treatment.
She said her greatest passion in life is assisting people who need it most.
“This honour has been a huge surprise,” she said.
“I’ve warned my family I have some important news to tell them, but they will no doubt be extremely surprised when they hear what it is.”
