One of the main roads into an Aberdeenshire town will be closed next week while essential works are carried out.
The Den of Logie road, the first entrance to Stonehaven from the north, will be shut for four days while it is resurfaced and re-lined.
The route brings traffic down from the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road past the caravan park and open air swimming pool, and the authority hopes the work will improve visitors’ first impression of the town.
Philip McKay, head of roads and landscape services, said: “This is a well used road, not least by local residents, and although the closure may be inconvenient, it is necessary given the work to be done.
“As anyone who uses it regularly will know, the road surface has become worn and requires to be replaced and re-lined.
“This work will make a big difference to the road, improving visitors’ first impressions of the approach to the town and we hope the results will be appreciated.”
Work is due to start on Monday, and the road will be closed fully to ensure public safety.
A diversion will be in place via the A90, taking motorists further south to one of the other two entrances to the town.
