Armed police were called to a flat in Aberdeen following reports of a man with a weapon.
Officers with firearms and police dogs descended on the property at Findhorn Place in Mastrick at around 2.30pm this afternoon.
It is understood a man has been remanded in custody in connection with the incident.
Stanley Morrison, 74, retired, was outside his home when the drama unfolded.
He said: “I was sitting out here when an officer told me to get inside the house.
“There were five police cars outside and four bobbies wearing riot gear – I was watching out of the window, I think they must have been in there for about 15 minutes.
“It’s normally quite quiet around here, most of the time.”
A police presence remained at the scene for several hours with an officer positioned within the block of flats in which the incident took place.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a disturbance at 2.25pm after receiving reports of a man with a weapon.”
