A north-east bus driver has been charged after allegedly being caught speeding while transporting schoolchildren.
The bus, carrying pupils from Meldrum Primary School, was travelling through Newmachar on Monday when it was stopped by police.
It is alleged the bus, owned by Fraserburgh firm Watermill Coaches, was travelling at 42mph in a 30mph zone.
A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that a 52-year-old female motorist has been charged under the Road Traffic Act and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
An Aberdeenshire Council spokeswoman confirmed that they were aware of the incident, which is under investigation.
She added: “As this is an ongoing police inquiry we cannot make any further comment.”
A spokesman for Watermill Coaches did not wish to comment on the incident.
