A top Scottish solicitor has been cleared of all charges having been accused of assaulting his wife and racially abusing her lover – a personal trainer to the stars.
Property lawyer Alexander Hutcheon went on trial last month accused of three charges which included attacking his partner Nicola at their home in Aberdeen’s upmarket Rubislaw Den South.
The 58-year-old was also accused of racially abusing his wife’s lover Steven Agyei.
He denied all the allegations against him and yesterday two charges were thrown out.
And this afternoon the Sheriff Janys Scott found him not guilty of the last remaining charge after she accepted Steve Agyei had engaged in a campaign to destroy the leading property lawyer and business man.
Mr Agyei accused Mr Hutcheon of acting in a racial aggravated and threatening manner at the Noose and Monkey pub on January 19 this year.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court previously heard evidence from Mr Agyei – former fitness coach to celebrities including Spice Girl Emma Bunton and ex-prime minister Tony Blair’s wife Cherie Blair.
He claimed he met Mr Hutcheon’s wife in May last year at a charity event at the Malmaison Hotel and said that within a week of meeting her she had left her husband and started a relationship with him.
He told the court that over the last year he had been subjected to racial abuse from the solicitor, and as a result he bombarded police with demands Mr Hutcheon be prosecuted. He even consulted Mrs Blair about it.
The court heard that when no action was taken Mr Agyei set about trying to get “corroborated evidence” to “bring Alex down”.
