Scores of families flocked to the seaside yesterday for the penultimate day of a north-east town’s annual summer gala.
Children took to Fraserburgh beach for a sand castle building competition in the afternoon.
The event, which was blessed with blue skies and sunshine, was one of the biggest attractions in the recently revived festival line up.
The gala kicked off with a well-attended quiz night at the Broch’s leisure centre, followed by a busy day at the Links.
Crowds converged on the area around the leisure centre for a variety of stalls, fun, games and inflatables.
A baby show also proved a hit with visitors. The fun continued into the evening with a night of live music courtesy of local band Revival.
As well as the popular sand castle contest, yesterday’s line up included a tea dance and bingo night.
The gala draws to a close today with an It’s a Knockout-style contest from 11am.
Chairwoman of the gala committee Marie Wallace said this year’s show had been a big hit. “The sun came out and everybody enjoyed themselves,” she said.
The town’s gala was resurrected in 2012 after an absence of more than 20 years.
Meanwhile, neighbouring Peterhead is gearing up for its annual summer gala.
The town’s Scottish Week festival, now in its 53rd year, begins on Saturday, July 19.
