An Aberdeenshire town will be bustling this weekend, with events for music, food and craft lovers lined up.
The annual Stonehaven Folk Festival kicks off today, and with just 10 tickets left for both Saturday and Sunday, organisers are looking forward to a successful weekend.
Traders from across Europe will also roll into town for a food and craft fair, giving visitors the chance to sample an array of produce such as biscuits, nougat, cheeses, sausages and breads.
With traders from France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland and Poland expected to attend, many wearing traditional costumes, Market Square is expected to be packed. It will run be open from 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
And organisers of the popular folk festival are also looking forward to a bumper weekend.
The Paddy Callaghan Trio, The North East Folk Collective, Gavin Marwick’s Journeymen Spectacular, Welsh band Jamie Smith’s Mabon, American folk musician Skip Gorman among others are lined up to play at the four-day event.
For those who have missed out on tickets, a concert will be held in the square on both weekend days. There will also be an aqua ceilidh at the open air pool at 11am on Sunday.
Organiser Charlie West said he about 50 musicians had signed up for the ceilidh, and that he was looking forward to the whole weekend.
He added: “Everything’s in place, the weather is the only thing we can’t control, but it’s not looking too bad. And we’re down to the last ten tickets for Saturday and Sunday.
“The town is pleasant when the festival is on the go, and the pubs and hotels do really well, and the restaurants and cafes do really well.”
