Over a thousand Aberdeen homes endured a powercut for almost two hours yesterday evening as people tried to watch the World Cup semi final.
1,205 homes in the West End’s AB10 and AB15 postcode areas were worst affected by the blackout which started at around 10.20pm following a fault on a high voltage line.
Specific roads affected included Ashley Gardens, Brighton Place, Union Grove, Forest Avenue, Earls Court, Queens Road and Burns Road.
The outage sparked an outpouring of frustration on social media due to the World Cup semi final being on television.

Immediately after the outage was reported, an update on Scottish and Southern Energy’s website said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
“Our engineers are working to get the power back on as quickly as they can.”
Power was eventually restored at midnight.
