A new £4.7million health centre opened in Aberdeen yesterday.
Work officially started on the Woodside Fountain Health Centre, on the city’s Great Northern Road, just a year ago.
The purpose-built facility includes a GP practice with 12 consulting rooms, a minor procedures room, treatment rooms and an NHS-only dental practice with three treatment rooms.
Yesterday Donside MSP Mark McDonald welcomed the opening, which he said builds on existing investment in health facilities in the north-east.
“Now people in Woodside will have access to brand new, custom-built health facilities that will significantly improve patient care in the area,” he said.
“This investment will continue into the future with a new cancer centre and maternity hospital in the pipeline. This continues to show that the Scottish Government is committed to healthcare delivery in the north-east.”
The new centre replaces Woodside Medical Group’s premises on Western Road. The £4.7million funding from the Scottish Government is part of a commitment to fund improvements in healthcare delivery in the north-east.
Last month. the Scottish Government announced that it was investing £120million in a new cancer centre and maternity hospital at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
