An Aberdeen graduate was travelling in south-east Asia when she heard the news she had gained her degree with a first class honours.
Jessica Horne, 22, of Aberdeen, specialised in quality management in her final year at RGU.
She has found a job in her chosen field with Amec and will start work in September.
Ms Horne said: “I found out I got a first when i was on holiday in Thailand. I was there for two and a half weeks and I kept checking.”
The former Albyn School pupil spent her placement year at university working for oil and gas giant Shell.
She said it had been one of the highlights of her four years at RGU.
“Although the final year was fast paced and more stressful than previous years, I felt this is the year I learnt and achieved the most at university,” she added.
“My thesis tutor, Lowellyne James, has been very supportive and encouraging throughout my final year and supported and encouraged my interest in quality management.”
As a student, Ms Horne divided her time between studying and horse riding, and was a passionate member of the university’s riding team.
