A man has been hospitalised following a flat fire opposite Aberdeen Grammar School.
Three appliances and 15 fire fighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the property at Whitehall Place, near Aberdeen Grammar school, just before 7pm.
The owner was alerted to the blaze by neighbours and managed to get himself out of the building.
He has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution, but is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “The blaze was well established when we arrived in the living room of the top floor flat.
“One male occupant was alerted to the fire by neighbours and got himself out the building.
“He has since been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for smoke inhalation.
“We are treating it as an accidental fire. It took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish it.”
Thick smoke could be seen across the Rosemount area while fire fighters controlled the blaze.
Whitehall Place remains closed while emergency services make the scene safe.
