No trouble has taken place ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash between FC Groningen and Aberdeen FC. A police spokeswoman said: “They’ve all been quite good spirited.” There’s a high police presence in Aberdeen as FC Groningen and Dons fans make their way to Pittodrie This afternoon Dutch fans gathered in the city’s Castlegate ahead of the march to Pittodrie for the match, filling out bars around the Mercat Cross. Nearly 700 FC Groningen supporters have made the trip from the Netherlands for the game. FC Groningen fans escorted by police to Pittodrie One Dutch fan, Eric Smit, was surprised by the heavy police presence around the fan congregation. He said: “In Groningan it’s different, you see two or three police officers at games.
