Runners are being encouraged to lace up their trainers and take part in a 5km race at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park.
Hundreds of people are expected to take part in Friends of Hazlehead’s inaugural 5K and family fun day next month, with money raised going towards maintaining the popular park.
This is the latest event organised by the charity, which is also sending a group of runners to participate in the New York Marathon.
Gary Walker, of Friends of Hazlehead, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to show people in the community what a great local amenity Hazlehead park is.
“With the money we raise we will be able to continue with the projects we have planned for the park, including the replanting of the Queen Mother Rose Garden, upgrading the core paths, creating sign-posted running routes and renovating and improving the popular Pets’ Corner.”
As well as the 5K, there will be some shorter circuits for children to complete.
During the event on August 30, there will also be a fun events village set up outside the park cafe and the Bon Accord Brass Band will also perform.
