Police are urging youngsters in Aberdeen not to endanger their lives by climbing on school roofs during the summer holidays.
Officers are carrying out extra patrols in Mastrick to stop pupils trespassing when school buildings are closed.
There have been a spate of vandalism incidents in the area this year. Most recently three boys, two aged 11 and one 12-year-old, were charged after nearly 30 windows were smashed at Muirfield Primary School.
Sixteen windows were allegedly broken on April 20 while 11 other windows were broken on other dates.
Sergeant Ian Doherty said officers were concerned about youngsters getting seriously injured if they climbed onto the school roofs – and urged them to treat buildings and their communities with respect.
“We want to encourage youngsters to enjoy the summer holidays responsibly and we are not looking to stop people having fun,” he said.
“Instead we are asking that people think about the dangers that trespassing can pose and think about the consequences of your actions.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman added: “We would urge people to treat schools and other public buildings with respect and to behave appropriately. If you become aware of anti-social or other criminal behaviour on school grounds, please contact the police.”
