An Aberdeen dolphin has been taken off display after vandals tried to set fire to the base of the statue.
Montgomery, who was on display at Seaton Park, received minor damage but the concrete plinth and plaque he stands on were both scorched.
The dolphin has been removed for repairs, and the plaque is likely to need replaced.
He is the third dolphin to have been damaged by vandals. Archie in Victoria Park and Tree’s A Crowd in Westburn Park have also had to be repaired, but are both now back on display.
Two further dolphins have also been repaired as a result of accidental damage from people standing and leaning on them.
Montgomery artist Shelagh Swanson said: “All the artists have put a lot of work into the dolphins and it is a shame when that work is not respected, but it is just life unfortunately.
“The majority of people have absolutely loved the dolphins – really got into it, supported it, and taken ownership of it.”
A total of 50 sculptures have been placed around the city on June 23 as part of the Wild Dolphin trail.
They will be left on display until next month, when they will be auctioned off to raise money for Archie Foundation and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation charities.
