North-east music fans are set to enjoy the Inverurie Jazz Festival this weekend.
The third annual event, which is organised by Garioch Jazz Club, begins today and will run at various venues across the town until Sunday.
A host of musicians and bands are travelling to the festival from across the country and include Edinburgh’s Lorna Reid and the Moray Jazz Club Sextet.
Ian Crighton, of Garioch Jazz Club, said: “One of the big highlights is going to be The Pasadena Roof Orchestra. They have a broad following and strike a chord with people of the jazz age. They were very popular in the 60s and 70s.
“There’s a lassie coming up on Friday called Lianne Carrol. She’s a great entertainer, she plays piano and she sings.
“And there’s some local bands as well. The Atholl Smith Jazz Band are always a huge hit, and Marisha Addison is another popular Aberdeen singer as well. She sings at the Blue Lamp and the Lemon Tree regularly.”
A jazz masterclass run by Richard Michael, winner of the Best Educationalist award at the 2013 Scottish Jazz Awards, will be held tomorrow. Singers and musicians are also invited to take part in an open mic jam session tomorrow evening at Hopeville Social Club.
