Vandal attacks on an Aberdeen school have been described as “mindless” by police.
Officers said last night that the majority of the incidents at Tullos Primary in Girdleness Road involved broken glass.
“If not cleared properly the glass could injure pupils within the school,” said sergeant David Cowie, of the Torry Community policing team.
He said: “It is very sad to see a building at the heart of our community being targeted in this way. It is not inconceivable to think that the persons responsible either attend or have relatives who attend the school.
“Further to this, the cost to the school to replace damage windows etc, impacts on the children from the local community.”
The local policing team say they are dedicated to keeping people safe and will do everything possible to prevent, deter and detected these offences.
“I would ask the local community to assist police with this problem and help put an end to this mindless vandalism,” added sergeant Cowie.
Conservative councillor for Torry and Ferryhill, Alan Donnelly, said: “When people attack schools they have got absolutely no sense of responsibility in the community, it’s absolutely despicable.
“Part of Tullos School is a community centre and we have got a swimming pool at the back of it. The whole area is sensitive.
“To vandalise schools is beyond contempt and they should go before the court and be punished for it. It’s sad that this happened.”
Any person who has information in relation to these incidents is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
