Extra police patrols will be undertaken in Marischal Court after a man was found dead in “suspicious” circumstances.
A major investigation is underway after a man was found injured on the ninth floor of the high-rise and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three people are currently in custody, with the public being reassured that the incident is “contained” with no further threat to the public.
It is understood that extra police patrols will be put on around the high-rise and the neighbouring buildings, where concerns have been raised about drug-dealing and taking in recent months.
Officers undertook door-to-door inquiries about drugs last week in the same area.
‘Shocking’ incident
Local councillors were shocked about the incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning.
Sandra Macdonald said: “It’s shocking and horrifying news to hear.
“It must be very upsetting to those who live in the community and those in the area.
“My thoughts go out to those affected by this awful news.
“I am pleased that the police have been proactive and that arrests have been made.
“If it is drug-related, then I know police are cracking down on crimes similar to this.”
Michael Hutchison added: “I was shocked to hear about this incident and my thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends.
“I’m sure the wider community can be reassured by the fact that police have said it is a contained incident, with no further threat to the public.
“As always, if the public has any information that would help the police in any way, then please get in touch with them.”
And Ryan Houghton said: “It’s a shocking incident and my thoughts go out to the victim and his friends and family.
“I want to thank the police for their hard work in dealing with the incident and they have made it clear to us that they will be stepping up their patrols to reassure the public.
“Anyone with any information should contact the police.”
