A serial offender who shattered a north-east firefighter’s shoulder in a vicious attack when he was a teenager was last night back behind bars.
Darren Warchol was 16 when he assaulted dad-of-two Raymond Forsyth on his own doorstep in an unprovoked attack in Ellon.
And yesterday he was jailed for 28 months after he admitted assaulting two women in the town, as well as the two police officers who had detained him.
The 24-year-old firstly attacked Kate Forsyth by repeatedly kicking her on the head, leaving her scarred for life.
The thug was said to have been acting alongside another as he carried out the violent assault.
Originally Warchol had also been accused of striking Ms Forsyth on the head with a piece of wood, but this was deleted by the Crown yesterday.
Warchol also attacked Tracy Scougall on Bridge Street, Ellon by kicking her to the head.
When he was taken to the police station in Ellon, Warchol spat in Sergeant Colin Houston and Constable Julie Ritchie’s faces.
The incidents all happened on April 29 this year.
In 2007, Warchol and a gang of youths attacked Mr Forsyth outside his home in the town’s Millpark Road after he confronted the teens who he believed had been up to no good.
They attack left the Peterhead-based firefighter with serious arm injuries.
Then in 2012 – just two days after he was released from prison – Warchol carried out an armed robbery at the Co-operative store on Hayton Road in Aberdeen.
At the time Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard he had attacked the innocent shop worker before making off with the cash in an attempt to pay off mounting gambling debts.
He also brandished a glass bottle during the raid. He was jailed for 29 months.
Sentencing the repeat offender yesterday, Sheriff Graeme Napier ruled Warchol should also be placed on a supervised release order for a year to protect the public.
