A 71-year-old Ellon man is in a serious but stable condition after a fire broke out in his home.
Two fire crews were called to the scene in the town’s Esslemont Circle at about 7.15am.
The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with burns.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose-reel jets to bring the flames under control, before bringing in ventilation fans.
Police and fire crews are still at the scene making their investigations.
An ambulance spokeswoman said: “We have taken one male casualty to accident and emergency in Aberdeen, he has burns but we can’t say how serious at the moment.”
A police spokeswoman said: “The man is described as serious but stable and he is 71. Investigations are ongoing.”
