Fire crews were called to the building at 9.30pm and used a hose reel jet to put out the flames. It took around 30 minutes to bring the fire under control with firefighters remaining at the scene to ventilate the smoke. The facility closed in April 2008 in an attempt by the city council to make major budget savings.
