A woman was airlifted to hospital with head injuries tonight following a one-vehicle accident on the A96.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the main Inverness to Aberdeen road, just outside Huntly at around 6.20pm.
The incident happened near to Bin Forest, north of the town. The car involved ended up badly mangled off the road after colliding with a road sign.
Fire crews were called from Huntly and Keith to make the scene safe.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “It was one car involved and there was one person released from the vehicle by the paramedics on arrival. We got the call out at 6.30pm.”
The road was still closed at 9.30pm and police were diverting traffic.
The Scottish Ambulance Service later confirmed that the woman had been flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
