The funeral of a north-east teacher killed in a car crash just yards from her home will take place this weekend.
Susan Crossan, who was head teacher of Culter Primary School, was described as an inspiration in the days after her death, which left the community devastated.
It is understood the 55-year-old suffered an aneurysm at the wheel of her car before she collided with a Volkswagen Beetle on South Deeside Road last Wednesday.
The accident happened near her home in the city’s Leggart Terrace as she returned from work.
The mother-of-three was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but died the next day.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at St John’s Episcopal Church, St John’s Place, Aberdeen at 10.30am.
Mrs Crossan is survived by her 58-year-old husband Finlay and sons Gavin, Andrew and Neill. She was grandmother to Harry, aged three, and one-year-old Ruby and mother-in-law to Jill and Jamie.
Her husband led the tributes last week, and described her as a “wonderful” mother and grandmother and that it was her passion for teaching and children that had driven her to become a head teacher.
He added: “Her loss to our family cannot be adequately put into words.”
During her 35-year career, Mrs Crossan taught at schools across Aberdeen, including Newhills, Stoneywood and Craighill.
Friends, colleagues and parents from around the city also paid their respects.
Rachel Preece, secretary of the Culter School’s parent council, said: “Mrs Crossan was a well-respected and well-liked member of staff who led the school for a number of successive years.”
