A planning bid has been tabled for the latest phase of a major housing development on the edge of Peterhead.
A masterplan for up to 435 properties on farmland near the Buchan port was backed by local councillors early last year.
Work is already well underway on the first stage of the Wester Clerkhill estate, which involves the creation of an initial 80 homes.
In January, Buchan-based firm Claymore Homes won planning permission for the second stage of the development which paved the way for a further 25 houses at the site off Kinmundy Road.
Now the company has submitted a fresh application for another 39 properties across more than six acres of land.
The project involves a mixture of house styles and sizes.
Council officers are now considering the proposal which is likely to be brought before members of the Buchan area committee in the coming weeks.
The overall scheme has been developed by consultants Knight Frank and architects Baxter Design on behalf of landowner Susan Baxter and will be rolled out over the next 25 years.
The blueprint – which was approved by local councillors in February 2013 – has land earmarked for a new care home and recycling centre.
There are currently no plans for an additional school to be set up, with enough space at nearby Dales Park Primary, which is currently under capacity.
Knight Frank is also involved in another major development at Peterhead, earmarked for land to the south of the town.
Provisionally called South Ugie village, the 1,265-property settlement has the potential to create hundreds of jobs.
A masterplan for the 200-acre site received backing from councillors in October and a planning application for the first stage of the development is now being drawn up.
If approved, the village will be built over the next 15 to 20 years, with the first phase of 575 houses expected to be completed by 2016.
About 10 acres of employment land is also included, as well as shops, community services and possibly a new school, hospital or health centre.
