The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay will visit Ballater today to take in the village’s 150th games.
Strongmen, athletes, Highland dancers and pipers will compete throughout the day at Monaltrie Park, delighting the visitors who come from across the world to take in the spectacle.
Prince Charles and Camilla, who often attend the Braemar Gathering in September with the Queen, are expected to arrive around noon, where they will be greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, James Ingleby.
They will then head to the chieftain’s tent to watch the competitions.
As well as the heavyweight competitions, including the shot putt and hammer throw, the event will feature a tug of war, athletics, the popular hill race, Highland dancing and piping contests.
The massed pipe band will also march around the park at various occasions throughout the day.
