Every dog had its day at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park as one of the north-east’s best-loved pet rehoming charities held its annual show.
More than 2,000 people thronged the venue for the Dawgs fun day, dodging the rain showers as they watched pooches of all shapes and sizes strut their stuff in classes ranging from best rescue dog to wiggliest wag.
The best in show prize went to Nia, a two-year-old Corgi, who qualified for the final after winning the most gorgeous girl class.
Owner Carys Thomas, from Stonehaven, said she was a delight to have around.
“She’s lovely,” she said. “We wanted a small dog, but not a terrier because we didn’t want something that would chase the guinea pigs.”
Walking off with the best dog with a child handler trophy was Izzy, the Hungarian Vizsla.
Not quite a year-old, she was shown to perfection by owner Abigail Robertson, 11, from Ellon.
The pair recently started going to dog agility classes in Inverurie and, according to mum Lynn, are already the best of friends.
“Abigail just loves Izzy, they go for long walks and do all sorts of things together,” she said.
As well as the classes, visitors were able to enjoy a range of attractions, including a dog agility course and stalls.
A number of other organisations also joined in, including Give a Greyhound a Home (Gagah) and Friends of Bianca, which raises funds for a shelter in Portugal.
Yesterday’s gathering is the main fundraising event of the year for Dawgs, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
In that time, the group has found loving new homes for more than 3,000 dogs.
The charity also has a charity shop in Alford, which is open from Thursday to Saturday between 10am-4pm.
