The two vehicle collision happened around 7.15pm on the A980 Banchory to Torphins road, approximately one mile east of Torphins. It involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a silver Volkswagen Transporter van. Both vehicles are registered locally. A male and female travelling in the Land Rover have both died, and the van driver has no life threatening injuries. The road is closed at the Raemoir House Hotel with local diversions in place. It is expected to remain closed for some time as collision investigations take place.
