A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a serial domestic abuser after he failed to turn up to be sentenced for another attack on his ex-partner.
Patrick O’Neill was due to be sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday after he admitted beating up his former partner Lorna Groves in July, less than a week after he was released from jail after threatening to kill her.
O’Neill appeared from custody last month and was given bail with a condition he did not contact Miss Groves.
The court heard that the pair were often in and out of court for offences committed against each other.
The couple were described as being like “two magnets” which kept ending up back together.
However, when his case called yesterday, O’Neill did not attend the court.
Defence agent Graham Morrison said he had not seen his client and had no explanation for his absence.
He said he was also aware reports had not yet been prepared by Aberdeen City Council’s social work department.
As a result Sheriff Shead called for a warrant to be issued for his arrest.
