Comedian Robin Williams will be remembered at the Lonach Highland Gathering tomorrow which he visited several times. Locals will pay tribute to the tragic talent, who died earlier this month after taking his own life. The star will be remembered before the start of the four-mile-race, which Williams competed in twice. Gathering secretary Jennifer Stewart said: “The loss of Robin Williams is very sad – he loved it here.” Williams visited the games with his friend Billy Connolly, who until recently owned nearby Candacraig House. Hundreds of people are expected tomorrow at the games, now in its 173rd year. It is one of the premier events of the Highland summer. The day begins with around 200 members of The Lonach Highland and Friendly Society walking six miles to the showground in Strathdon. Some are locals but many come from England and overseas to take part in the walk. Tradition dictates that they stop off at six houses along the way – and take a dram in every one.
