Police have named a man and a woman who died following a two vehicle smash near Banchory.
Mark Lee, 41, of Drumoak and Valerie Cruickshank, 43, from Banchory, were travelling along the A980 Torphins to Banchory road at around 7.30pm on Wednesday when their Landrover was involved in a collision with a VW Transporter.
The female driver of the van did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
It was the first of two crashes within 24 hours in Aberdeenshire.
Douglas Stuart Bruce died in a two-vehicle crash near Turriff on Thursday morning – with his family describing him as ‘the life and soul of any party’.
