A north-east oil group has raised more than £100,000 for charity from their annual golf tournament.
Aberdeen Oilman’s Golf Association (AOGA) held their 36th annual tournament at Gleneagles.
David Bloom, corporate business development director at Subsea 7 and AOGA committee member, said: “We decided to try and put something back into north-east charities and since 2001 we’re raised more than £800,000. We raised £100,000 from this tournament, which is the most we’ve ever raised from one event.
“We want the money to benefit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire so we’ve donated it to several different charities on the agreement it’s used in this area.
“We’ve given some to the Paul Lawrie Foundation which develops sports opportunities for children in the north-east. Some has gone to UCAN who are trying to bring robotic surgery to the hospital.
“Macmillan nurses have been given some money and are going to focus it on Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
“We’ve given some to Marpool School as well. About five or six years ago we raised money to buy a minibus with disabled facilities to get a wheelchair in and things, and part of the agreement was we would help with the maintenance of it.
“We’ve also donated to the ARCHIE Foundation, who were the charity supported by the Scottish Open, and to the Oil Chaplaincy who we hadn’t realised until about two years ago run very much on charitable donations.”
The tournament weekend also included opportunities for spa treatments, falconry, horse-riding and off-road driving.
