£5,000 in shed alarms dished out to victims of house-breakings

Aberdeen police will begin distributing shed security alarms to victims of house-breakings this week.
1000 shed alarms will be given out as part of a wider push by officers in the city to improve shed security as of Thursday.
The security initiative will also encompass a crackdown by Aberdeen officers in hot spot areas for the garden thefts.
The initiative comes following a rise in the number of shed break-ins in the city, with 50 reported between April 1 and July 10 2013, up by 12 on the same period last year.
Of this figure, 46% of reported thefts were of bicycles, the rest being such items as golf clubs, power tools and gardening equipment.
The funding for the shed alarms was made possible by a £5,000 Aberdeen Community Safety Partnership grant.
