A man who sparked a search and rescue operation near precarious north-east cliffs has been found by police.
Emergency services were called in to search the coastline at historic Slains Castle outside Cruden Bay.
Two dog units and officers from Police Scotland mounted the mission from a layby near the Bullars of Buchan beauty spot, six miles south of Peterhead.
The town’s lifeboat was launched after receiving a page at 12.18pm today and joined Coastguard teams from Peterhead and Cruden Bay.
At 2pm, a spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “He has been located by police and all our assets have been stood down.”
A spokesman for the Peterhead lifeboat crew added: “We searched an area near Slains Castle but the man was found by police onshore and we were stood down at 1.30pm.”
