Numerous people have been left temporarily homeless after a ferocious blaze near the centre of Aberdeen.
Investigations are continuing into what caused the major fire in the Rosemount area on Friday afternoon.
Interior design store, The Design House, was reduced to a charred shell after the blaze broke out at the rear of the building, while a neighbouring dry cleaning premises was also ruined by thick, black smoke.
A stairwell in between the two shops, which led to several properties upstairs, was also destroyed.
The front door has been padlocked shut while police carry out inquiries, and numerous people who live in the building have been told it is not safe to enter yet.
More than 50 fire fighters battled the blaze on Friday after emergency services were called just before 2pm.
Seven fire crews also remained at the scene for several hours to ensure the building was safe amid fears flames were still burning behind the traditional plaster walls.
The fire brigade was praised at the weekend after another major blaze broke out in the city just 12 hours after the incident at Rosemount.
Eight fire crews tackled the blaze at a disused Health and Safety Executive building at Causewayend.
The crews were called at around 2am and worked at the scene for more than two hours.
A spokesman for the fire service said that due to the size of the building and the internal condition, eight appliances and a height vehicle were required to bring the fire under control.
An incident support vehicle was also at the scene.
“Firefighters worked in very difficult conditions to contain the fire to the first floor of the building using eight breathing apparatus and two jets,” he said.
“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
“There was no one inside the building.”
