Heartless thieves stole hundreds of pounds worth of charity money during a raid on six shops in Aberdeen’s Rosemount district at the weekend.
Police are appealing for information after numerous businesses were targeted between 6pm on Saturday and 8am on Monday morning.
A low-three figure sum of cash was stolen from two of the premises – understood to be from charity collection boxes – while the estimated damage caused to all six businesses has been valued at a four-figure sum.
Last night, local councillor Bill Cormie, said the robbers smashed the windows of all the businesses, including an ice cream parlour and florist, to gain access.
He said he was “absolutely disgusted” by what had happened and that police were working hard to catch those responsible.
“These shops are unique to residents in Rosemount and unique to Aberdeen,” he said.
“These people are trying to make a living then get punished like this.
“We’re not used to things like this happening in Rosemount, and I would urge anyone who knows anything to let the police know.”
