A convicted child molester scored a second pay-out from prison bosses yesterday – over treatment for his toothache.
Neil Robertson successfully sued the Scottish Prison Service in 2009 after blaming Peterhead jail staff for failing to get him an NHS dentist.
The paedophile launched a fresh legal battle last month to sue the prison service for £20,000 as he was unhappy with the dental work he finally received.
The case called at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday but was dismissed after an undisclosed out of court settlement was reached.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “SPS has reached agreement in this matter. We are unable to comment further.”
Robertson, who was described by a judge as a “dangerous psychopath”, had claimed he was unhappy with the dental treatment he received.
It is understood Robertson had to have several teeth removed because of what a health expert described as “negligent” dental work.
The 48-year-old, who posed as a pilot to woo his seven-year-old victim’s mother, was understood to have been suing the prison service for £20,000.
Robertson, originally from Ayrshire, was convicted and jailed for life in 2003 for abusing the girl.
Robertson was awarded a cash pay-out from prison bosses in late 2009 after he blamed prison chiefs for failing to find an NHS dentists to treat his toothache.
He received an undisclosed out of court settlement for the prison’s failure to provide “appropriate dental treatment”.
In 2010, he was moved out of Peterhead Prison, along with another 150 sex offenders, to Glenochil while work began on the new £140million HMP Grampian super-jail.
The Scottish Government declined to comment yesterday, saying that it was a matter for the prison service.
North East MSP Lewis Macdonald said: “It is disappointing having to see the taxpayers stump up once again.
“I would hope all offenders put as much effort into addressing their offending behaviour as they do to pursuing cases in the courts.”
