Motorists in Aberdeen’s West End have been urged to make sure they secure their cars as the darker nights approach.
Inspector Ian McKinnon of the West End Community Policing Team said last year, criminals had targeted a number of vehicles in the area which had been left unlocked.
He said: “It is good people feel safe enough in this area to leave their vehicles unlocked, but I’m looking to make it harder for those criminals and opportunistic thieves who may want to take advantage.
“Around this time last year we saw an increase in the number of thefts from insecure vehicles and I would like to again encourage everyone to take basic precautions to ensure you aren’t one of the unlucky ones.”
Drivers are advised to keep valuable items out of view and to report anything suspicious to the police.
