A lane closure is in force on the A96 southbound following the incident on Auchmilll Road this morning. Police said the smoke was caused by a fault in an underground fuse box. The fire brigade was called but Scottish and Southern Electric are now dealing with the problem. It is not know how long the lane will remain closed. A number of homes close to the fuse box were left without power between 6.50am and 7.40am, a spokesman for SSE said.
