Fire crews were called out to tackle a large blaze at a farm in Fyvie in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Around 15 firefighters were needed to deal with the fire – which was reported at around 2.30am – after it broke out within a steading at Meikle Gourdas Farm.
Fire engines from Oldmeldrum and Turriff and a water carrier from Buckie were all called to the scene.
The incident commander on scene was Mike Cordiner, station commander.
He said: “When we arrived the roof and the walls had partially collapsed.
“The steading itself contained some bails of straw and farm machinery. The crews used two spray jets to tackle the fire and other small fires which had started around the periphery.
“We monitored the adjacent buildings to protect them from airborne embers.
“The crews worked hard to contain the fire and make sure it did not spread to other buildings.”
A crew was still carrying out damping down operations into the morning but has now left the scene.
The fire is not being treated as deliberate.
