The incident took place near the Victoria Bridge at around 3.40pm. It is understood the boy had fallen in to the river and was trapped by his ankle. A coastguard team was sent to the scene but the boy had already been freed by a police officer. He was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for checks, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
