Teenager trapped in Aberdeen river is freed

A teenage boy has been rescued after getting stuck in the River Dee in Aberdeen.

The incident took place near the Victoria Bridge at around 3.40pm.

It is understood the boy had fallen in to the river and was trapped by his ankle.

A coastguard team was sent to the scene but the boy had already been freed by a police officer.

He was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for checks, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
