A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years after he groped two women at an Aberdeen nightclub.
Michael Dunbar was found guilty of touching the private parts of his victims while at Club Tropicana, Chapel Street, on February 9 this year.
However Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Dunbar, 33,had failed to accept responsibility for the crimes he had committed and continued to believe he was innocent.
Sheriff Christopher Shead said Dunbar, of 60 Cairngorm Gardens, Aberdeen, had shown a “demonstrable” attitude towards women during the trial and said he found it difficult to sentence him when he would not accept his guilt.
He said the women had shown “clear distress” when giving their evidence and told him he had seriously considered sending him to jail.
However the sheriff said he was prepared to place him under supervision for three years in the hope that this would help address his bad attitude and reduce the risk of him reoffending. He also put him on the sex offenders’ register and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community.
