Councillors will be asked to approve changes to a major housing development in Ellon tomorrow.
The move centres on 35 flats on land at Castle Meadows – part of a larger 247-home development which already has full planning permission.
The alterations are set out in a report to members of Aberdeenshire Council’s Formartine area committee by the local authority’s head of infrastructure, Stephen Archer.
The site’s developer, Barratt North Scotland, wants to increase the number of single-bed flats by two to 22, while reducing the number of two-bed flats to just one, from 12.
The firm also wants to build 12 new, three-bed flats.
Mr Archer argues that the changes will make no difference to the character, amenity or appearance of the area.
However, the plans have attracted two objections from locals, who say any increase in population would impact on services such as healthcare and schools.
Mr Archer insists the scheme would have no major impact on the town’s public services.
The 247-home plan was first submitted to authority planners in 2009 and approved in January, 2012.
Councillors will meet in Ellon tomorrow to discuss the alterations.
