An international energy services company has raised more than £100,000 for sick children in the north-east in just six months.
Wood Group pledged earlier this year to raise £200,000 to support The Archie Foundation, and are now already more than halfway to their target thanks to staff members who have thrown their weight behind the effort.
Staff have held raffles, bake sales and a golf day, and have also taken part in sports challenges like the Aboyne Duathlon and the Baker Hughes 10K to take them towards their target.
The money is being raised in support of the High 10 for Archie appeal, which aims to make Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital a world class facility, and will be the biggest single sponsorship package ever received by the charity.
Tony Dinozzi, group head of mergers and acquisitions at Wood Group, said: “We are proud and delighted that the fantastic efforts of Wood Group employees has allowed us to achieve the halfway point of our fundraising target just six months after we announced our support of the High 10 for Archie appeal.
“We are passionate about helping people in the communities we work in and we know this appeal will make a huge difference to the lives of sick children and their families.”
The money raised by the firm will go towards two steps of the hospital’s transformation – the revamp of the reception area and an upgrade of the garden and play areas at the front and back of the building.
David Cunningham, chief executive of the Archie Foundation, praised Wood Group’s efforts since March, and said: “This is an amazing achievement in such a short timescale, with many innovative fundraising initiatives and so much commitment for the project.
“Wood Group staff have been wonderful supporters of the charity for many years and they have already helped us to make a big difference for sick children in the north of Scotland.
“This continued generous support will help us to achieve our aim to make Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital world-class for today’s and tomorrow’s sick children. We are very grateful to everybody involved.”
