Donald Trump’s bid to host a major tournament at his north-east course took a big step forward today as councillors approved his plans for a new clubhouse.
The current temporary structure will be replaced by a granite building in the style of the estate’s B-listed MacLeod House.
Trump International’s planning agent Elaine Farquharson-Black said: “In this the week of the Ryder cup, perhaps one day we will see the competition come further north. This would take us one step closer to bringing that dream to a reality.”
Despite seven objections from members of the public, Aberdeenshire Council urged members of the Formartine Area Committee to throw their weight behind the plans.
