Proposals to build a 156-bedroom hotel in Aberdeen have taken a step forward.
The Ibis Hotel is proposed for ABZ Business Park near the airport at Dyce.
Now a request has been made for approval of conditions for planning permission in principle.
Included in the application is a range of requirements, related to transport, energy efficiency and bird hazard management.
The application, submitted on behalf of applicants Argyll Hotels Aberdeen, states: “Aberdeen International Airport creates a regular high demand for hotel accommodation in the near vicinity, as do the surrounding business uses.
“Demand for hotel accommodation is expected to increase due to future business expansion nearby.
“The proposed hotel will be well placed to serve demand for accommodation. It is anticipated that the close proximity of the airport and surrounding business uses will enable walking trips by guests working in the local area.”
Last December energy consultant David Robertson, from the Colpitts World Travel agency, warned a shortage of hotel rooms could hold the city back from building a reputation as an international business centre.
