An escaped snake was found slithering through the grass at an industrial estate near St Machar Academy.
The reptile was found by members of staff of the Worldwide Oilfield Machine business in St Machar Road.
The orange and white corn snake has been nicknamed Ollie by Scottish SPCA staff.
Jacki Bell is a senior animal care assistant at the SSPCA’s rehoming centre at Drumoak, where the snake is currently recovering from his ordeal.
She said: “He is now receiving the appropriate care from staff at our Drumoak centre.
“Ollie appears to be in good health, other than being a little lean and having a few missing teeth.
“He was quite docile when our rescue officer picked him up, but after arriving at the centre he has shown himself to be a feisty wee lad.
“Ollie will remain at our centre for seven days to allow his owner to come forward. If no one claims him, we’ll find him a caring new home.”
Originally from North America, corn snakes have proven themselves to be an attractive pet for reptile lovers, thanks to their colour patterns, lack of venom and reluctance to bite their owners.
The SSPCA requires anybody who wants to adopt Ollie or any of the ten other corn snakes currently staying at the Drumoak centre to demonstrate a full understanding of the specialist needs of the creatures.
