Investigations are continuing after a man was found dead in an Aberdeen flat.
Emergency services were called to Urquhart Road, just off King Street, just after midnight on Wednesday.
A 51-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
It is understood a woman is helping police with their inquiries.
Throughout the day on Wednesday, police officers were stationed outside the flat while forensics officers dressed in white suits and masks could be seen going in and out with bags of evidence.
A police spokeswoman said officers remained on the street through the night.
Neighbours said they were shocked to hear of the drama, which unfolded at about 12.10am.
One local shopkeeper said that when he arrived at work at 9am, a large area had been cordoned off and he had spotted officers patrolling.
Another said he must have missed the arrival of the police at midnight by moments, but added a customer had told him multiple cars had arrived in a hurry.
Other neighbours said they had assumed the incident related to drugs, which is a known problem in the area.
However some said they had missed the drama completely as a section of the road has been blocked off with a one-way system in place.
A police spokesman said: “Around 12.10am on Wednesday, 10 November, officers were called to a property on Urquhart Road, Aberdeen following the death of a 51-year-old man.
“The circumstances around the death are currently being investigated.”
One neighbour said he saw officers arrive after midnight with most of the police activity taking place in the early hours.
