Dons stars are urging fans to step forward and join the children’s panel.
Fifty new members – particularly men – are needed to join the panel in the city.
The deadline for applications is Friday, and as it approaches, Aberdeen FC’s stars are joining the calls for volunteers to sign up.
Club captain Russell Anderson said: “The children’s panel helps local youngsters in difficult situations, and as a football club at the heart of the local community, we’re delighted to be backing this campaign.
“At the moment there’s a lack of male volunteers, but it’s important to have a mix of both men and women on the panel. If you have empathy and an understanding of some of the issues young people face, you should seriously consider applying to become a panel member.”
Applicants must be aged over 18 and passionate about helping vulnerable youngsters.
No qualifications are necessary and full training is provided to develop skills.
Boyd McAdam, national convener and chief executive of Children’s Hearings Scotland, added: “We’re delighted to have Aberdeen Football Club on board. We hope their support will garner some community spirit and encourage their supporters to consider joining the panel.
“No two panel members are the same. We need men and women of different ages and from a variety of backgrounds.
“The panel is supposed to represent a cross-section of society, and by law we’re required to have at least one male on each panel, so we’re calling for more men to apply to join the panel before the October 10 deadline.
“It’s an extremely worthwhile thing to be part of and it offers the chance to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people in your community.”
