Controversial plans to redevelop the site of Aberdeen City Councils former HQ have been approved.
The £107million Marishcal Square scheme, a combination of offices, shops, restaurants and a hotel, was voted through by 23-18 today.
Backers of the plan, Muse Developments Ltd, said the Broad Street revamp would lead to a “ripple effect” of further regeneration for the east end of the city centre.
An amendment from SNP councillor Bill Cormie to defer the application for further consideration was defeated.
Several Nationalists voiced concern after pedestrianisation plans for Broad Street were dropped days before the full council meeting.
Liberal Democrat Jennifer Stewart also put forward an amendment to refuse planning permission, which fell.
