Police have referred themselves to their watchdog following the recent death of a 51-year-old man in central Aberdeen.
The Police Investigation and Review Commissioner (PIRC) has been asked to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which took place on Urquhart Road, just off King Street, on November 10.
The body was discovered in a property on the street at around 12.10am with most of the police activity taking place in the early hours.
A larger area outside the flat was cordoned off in the morning as the force continued to carry out their investigations.
Throughout the day, officers were stationed outside the property while a forensics team dressed in white suits and masks was seen going in and out with bags of evidence.
At the time, it was understood a woman had been helping police with their inquiries.
A PIRC spokeswoman has now confirmed they will further investigate the death of the man, who had previously been in contact with the force.
She said: “PIRC has received a referral from COPFS in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death of a 51-year-old male in Aberdeen on November 10, who had previously been in contact with Police Scotland.
“The circumstances will be investigated and on completion of the investigation a report will be submitted to COPFS.”
